What is the Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit Voucher?
Benefits of supplemental vouchers formerly called "Vocational rehabilitation retraining,"
These are vouchers tha can be used by injured workers to cover school or training costs and obtain the skills that would be needed to begin a new job that interests you most.
The voucher can be used for learning and job training expenses, which include school fees, materials, books and professional advice from a qualified vocational return to work counseling agency such as Contempo Counseling.

These benefits are designed to provide you with payments/reimbursements that are mostly focused on Educational purposes that will allow you to find your way back to a better position in your job, another position at a different company or even starting your own business.

What Benefits Can You Receive?
Miscellaneous Benefit

Receive $500 in Miscellaneous for personal expenses that can be used for training material such as books, certification fees, related examination fees and preparation course fees. No receipts are needed. ​
Computer Equipment Reimbursement

Up to $1,000 for computer equipment including monitors, software, networking devices, keyboards, mouse, printers and table computers.
Education-Related Retraining Or Skill Enhancement

$3,900 focused on education-related retraining, skill enhancement or both. Only eligible schools will be accepted by insurance for payment. Contact a counselor for additional details.​
Miscellaneous Expense Reimbursement

$500 expense for school/course related fees, material, exams and certifications. If you request the $500 Miscellaneous Expense personal expenses check, you are not entitled to receive this reimbursement. If you have any additional questions please Contact a counselor for personalized assistance.
Vocational Return-To-Work-Counselor

Your insurance will approve payment of $600 (or 10% of the benefit voucher) to a licensed placement, Vocational Return To Work Counseling Agency that can help you use SJDB (Supplemental Job Displacement benefits) in the best way possible, we will assist you in explaining your benefits and help you in the process so you can start receiving them in the expected time.
Return-To-Work State Benefit

$5,000 State benefit. Injured Workers with a date of injury on or after January 1st 2013, and who has received an SJDB voucher for said injury may be eligible for a one-time return-to-work supplement of $5,000. All vouchers must be accompanied by a cover sheet prepared by the claims administrator containing notice of the Return to Work Supplement Program. We can only request this benefit for you once in a lifetime and the submission of this benefit has to be submitted at least one year after your voucher was served to you.
The Supplemental Job Displacement Benefits
This benefit comes in the form of a non-transferable voucher that can be used to pay for education retraining or skill enhancement at state-approved or accredited schools. If you qualify, you should receive the voucher form from the claims administrator. You may qualify for additional payments from the Return to Work Supplemental Program. This is a one-time return to work state benefit supplement of $5,000 dollars.
Employees injured on or after January 1st 2013, with injuries that result in permanent partial disability, and whose employer does not offer other regular, modified or alternative work, may also qualify for the SJDB voucher.
The offer must be made within 60 days after receipt by the claims administrator of the physician’s Return-To-Work & Voucher Report (Form DWC-AD 10133.36) The voucher amount is $6,000 for all levels of permanent disability and can be used for training at a California public school or any other provider listed on the state’s eligible training provider list.
Did your Injury happen before 2013?
PRE-2013 VOUCHER
For employees injured between Jan. 1, 2004 and Dec. 31, 2012, with injuries that result in permanent partial disability and who have obtained a voucher, could also have the following balance available on the voucher:

Up to four thousand dollars ($4,000) for permanent partial disability awards of less than 15 percent.

Up to six thousand dollars ($6,000) for permanent partial disability awards between 15 and 25 percent. Up to eight thousand dollars ($8,000) for permanent partial disability awards between 26 and 49 percent.

Up to ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for permanent partial disability awards between 50 and 99 percent.

This section shall apply to injuries occurring on or after January 1, 2004 and before January 1, 2013.

The benefit comes in the form of a non-transferable voucher that can be used to pay for education-related retraining or skill enhancement, or both, at state-approved or state-accredited schools. The voucher covers school tuition, fees, books and expenses required by the school for training. No more than 10 percent of the value of the voucher can be used for vocational & return to work counseling. The amount of the voucher varies from $4,000 to $10,000, depending on the level of permanent disability:

Employees injured between Jan. 1, 2004 and Dec. 31, 2012, with injuries that result in permanent partial disability who do not return to work for the employer within 60 days of the termination of temporary disability, may qualify for the SJDB voucher, unless the employer offers and the employee rejects, or fails to accept, modified work, lasting at least 12 months. If this is your case you should also have your approved voucher:
